The well known songwriter, singer, and activist, Willie Nelson was born April 29, 1933 (he was born close to midnight, so some sources claim his birthday is the 30th). That’s right. Hard as it may be to believe, Willie Nelson is 83 years old.
Willie, a Texas-native, was gifted his first guitar at 6 years old from his grandparents. They were music teachers and believed in the importance of music in the lives of everyone.
Willie first started his career as a songwriter for other singers, but quickly grew in popularity and created his own style. He is still a powerful singer and well loved today. Some of his biggest hits include “Always On My Mind”, “Crazy”, and “On the Road Again”.
Somewhat less known is the fact that Willie’s sons Lukas and Micah grew up on the road with Willie. Being surrounded by music helped them to grow musical talents of their own. When you see them play together, you can almost feel the bond that is there.
