5 Dietary Herbal Antibiotics that Fight Pathogens Naturally

April 12, 2016Health & Wellness

Herbal antibiotic medicines can naturally fight pathogens. Herbal medicines fight diseases in two ways; they strengthen your immune system and also kill germs.

Modern medicine has definitely improved our lives. One of the greatest discoveries of modern medicine was penicillin in 1928. Since then, many antibacterial and anti-inflammatory medicines were developed throughout the world.

Recently many scientists, including the World Health Organization, have become worried about using and overusing antibiotics. Germs have become resistant to antibiotics today and they keep getting stronger.

They also not only destroy bad bacteria that cause disease, but the beneficial bacteria, which is essential to gut health. Recent research also suggests that healthy gut bacteria plays a major role in many other biological processes.

Luckily, we can still seek protection against illnesses using wonderful natural antibiotics designed by Mother Nature.

5 Herbal Antibiotics

Hippocrates said, “Let your food be your medicine, and your medicine be your food.” Natural herbal antibiotics are excellent for their antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory traits. In most cases, they are safer and do not interfere with the natural defense system of your body. Moreover, they give your body what it needs to fight infection naturally.

1. Ginger:

gingerGinger is a well-known antibiotic, commonly used in eastern herbal medicine, and ancient Chinese medicine. Ancient Chinese herbalists used ginger to preserve food and prevent food-related infection by adding ginger to their dishes. Recent studies have shown that ginger does help fight bacteria and boost the immune system naturally.

2. Garlic:

Garlic is one of the toughest disease fighters found in nature. It contains a compound called allicin which has similar properties as penicillin. Garlic is a member of the onion family. It has amazing antibiotic properties. It fights bacteria, fungus and parasites.  It’s also anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. Using garlic to cook delicious dishes or meals could help you fight diseases, stay younger, and reduce your risk of cancer.

3. Turmeric:

Turmeric is another simple spice used in India that is actually a natural antibiotic medicine. It’s also an anti-inflammatory, antiseptic herb that can be easily added to your daily diet. It is able to constrain the growth of certain parasites, bacteria, and fungi.

4. Olive Oil:

herbal medicineMany of you may already know the benefits of olive oil. The antioxidant properties of olive oil are well known. People have used olive oil to prepare healthy dishes and have also used it as a moisturizer on skin.

Dr. Ronald Hoffman MD, founder and Medical Director of the Hoffman Center in New York City, found that olive leaf extracts have antibiotic properties, and can be useful against treating fever and several other illnesses.

5. Honey:

Honey is a sweet solution for health. Ancient Romans used honey on battle fields to treat soldiers with wounds because of its antibiotic properties. Studies have found that honey helps in fighting bacteria and even cold and flu viruses.

Honey also has immune boosting properties. Using honey instead of sugar could also boost your health by reducing calories from your diet and reducing your use of refined sugars.

Conclusion:

Our Immune system does an excellent job of fighting diseases naturally. We can fight germs in two ways. We can either boost our immune system to give it an advantage over the pathogens or we can use an antibiotic medicine to kill germs. Try using these natural antibiotics in your daily diet.
